action generates inspiration

We should be taught not to wait for inspiration to start a thing. Action always generates inspiration. Inspiration seldom generates action. — Frank Tibolt

Inspiration usually comes during work, rather than before it.  — Madeleine L'Engle

I don’t know where my ideas come from, but I know where they come to. They come to my desk, and if I’m not there, they go away again. -- Philip Pullman

Okay, I have a little story for you. I was sitting at my desk, working at my writing, which I had to do, by prior agreement with myself--and also because *someone* has lately sent me all sorts of fabulous quotes about staying at my desk. ;-)

Anyway, as I was working, I got a little flash of an idea for a new project. I set it aside, and kept at my writing.

Later, I came to this post. And reading about inspiration made me think again about that idea I had. It motivated me to pay attention to it, and play with it. And now I'm just bubbling at the edges over how I'm going to carry this thing out.

So thank you for the inspiration. Tibolt and L'Engle were so right!
