You have to love a nation that celebrates its independence every July 4, not with a parade of guns, tanks, and soldiers who file by the White House in a show of strength and muscle, but with family picnics where kids throw Frisbees, the potato salad gets iffy, and the flies die from happiness. You may think you have overeaten, but it is patriotism. — Erma Bombeck

i want to thank everyone who sends me e-mail or blogs about camp creek and says such nice things about this blog and — ahem — about me. i really, really appreciate it! thank you!
these summer open threads are hard. i imagine you all have better things to do than hunch over the keyboard on a beautiful summer weekend. but … there’s always the australians. it’s winter there. ;^) and it is supposed to rain tomorrow!
we’ll be spending the weekend outdoors as much as possible, gardening, cooking out, playing ping-pong, swimming, and i have a whole plan to replace the canvas on my vintage deck chair. wish me luck! and have a wonderful weekend. :^)
that sounds awesome — who doesn’t love a parade?! i hope it doesn’t rain! it’s supposed to rain here tomorrow, on the actual 4th, and be nice on the 5th.
hi stacey :^)
i’m glad we can provide you with some familiar routine. ;^)
enjoy your weekend — there is just something about july 4th. it’s like the turning point of summer. a little bittersweet!
I'm curious, Lori, is your ping pong table outside? That sounds like a lot of fun. As for checking in to your blog over the summer, I'm here quite a bit. Since I'm trying to revamp what homeschool looks like in our home, I read and re-read your posts frequently. Thanks for all you share and good luck on your chair project.
kelly, we sometimes drag it outside and play — that *is* so fun! — but right now it’s in the greenhouse. kind of a porch-y feel in there. :^)
re: the blog, thank you *so* much! :^D)
i will need the luck on the chair project. i am scratching my head over replicating the seat and wondering if the original makers sewed it in midair or somehow took the chair apart.
Yes, I love Camp Creek, it's like my own personal laptop camp, full of awe and wonder and like minded awesome people.
amy, i’m with you — i’d rather stay home on the holidays and weekends since we have the option of going out during the week and on off-days. ;^)
enjoy your holed-up holiday!

We'd sure like to see a picture of the "new" chair when it's done!!
I don't comment very often, but I love your blog and how inspired I am by it to be the best homeschooling mama I can be.
kelly, that sounds like so much fun! let me know about that project if it gets off the ground. ;^)
mm, thank you & i hope you had the same! :^)
and it sounds like you had a great fourth — even if you had to miss the fireworks. ;^)
