may is my favorite month
May is my month. Mothers Day, my birthday, and then my mom's birthday all in the space of two weeks. Plus, May has May baskets ... and the best weather.
We play it pretty cool on Mothers Day. Handmade cards. A joint present from my three guys — something for the garden.
Since my birthday quickly follows Mothers Day, and I lay claim to the whole month, I usually get a camping trip or a kayaking trip, too. My favorite present is a great memory.
So what are you guys doing this weekend?

i'm guessing may is a busy month for photographers!
About my mothers-day: I'm not so into that. To me it's restrictive to celebrate my motherhood at this day particular: I'm a mother every day...! Another thing I pity about it, is that it's getting so commercial. On the other hand: you're free to choose the way you celebrate it, but besides all of that we don't celebrate it because my husband leaves on that particular day for a 16-days during trip to Costa Rica and what's a mothersday without a father?
Wish you a happy mothersday though and a great anniversary!
aw, getting together with all your children - now that's a great present. :^)
We don't celebrate a whole lot, but those "happy mother's day, we love you"s are nice to get, even if it is a little commercial. If having a hallmark holiday helps them remember to communicate their positive feelings toward me, I'm all for it! *wink*
i will also hopefully honor my mommasita in they way i treat my children and those around me...she lives to far to really *do* anything for her and it's too late for a card :) so i hope my actions and the lessons she taught me will speak louder than words....
i find i play mothers day down because it is a tricky balance for me to strike between my mother in law's requests to be with her son, [we live fairly close to my in laws] and my desire to be with just my husband and girls...so i don't feel terribly disappointed in the flow of the day i try not to get my hopes up and channel my mothers day energies/feelings toward *my* mom and maybe one day my children will want to do the same without any pressure. maybe they won't and that will be okay too [i think] and if not, then i just deal with those feelings then :) hmmmm. long comment for a little question :)
anneke - sorry you'll be missing your husband - but i hope you enjoy this beautiful month, and thank you for the good wishes!
sam - happy birthday to your son :^D and your mother's day sounds niiiiice. ;^)
susana - yes, camping is the best! i don't know, though, because this week has been wet and cold. oh well, we will find something fun to do. :^) and a bike trip to an island sounds fantastic!
michelle - that sounds like a great weekend with bitterbetty - w00t!
sachi - that sounds like my perfect day. :^)
sarah - i know what you mean about expectations and balancing what *all* the different generations of moms want from the day. ;^) you can follow my lead and claim the whole month - that way, you can enjoy your own particular day whenever you like! xoxo & i hope you have a good one. :^)
Our weekend will be same as usual as we already had out Mother's day back in March.
Enjoy your month of fun :o)
happy birthday too!
Happy days to you, both Mother's and birth anniversary. Enjoy your month!
leslie, the cabin sounds great - and i love the idea of giving your mother a cutting garden. beautiful! the picture is a bit of the herb garden - herbs are my favorites. :^)
hi molly, thank you! those purple spiky ball flowers always make me think of dr. seuss - they're garlic chives. :^) hope you have a wonderful weekend - our may weather, which is usually the most beautiful of the year (i think!), has been cold and overcast and rainy - boo! but the garden is loving it, so i guess it will be a beautiful june. :^)
