nature journals: get closer to wildlife at the nature center

scarlet-screechowl.jpg

Most of our nature journaling will be done en plein air. But don’t overlook your local nature center. You can get up close and personal with birds, reptiles, and animals that you will be lucky to see from a distance when you’re drawing and painting outdoors.

For Alek and India (and other owl fanciers). Lori Pickert’s comment on Deron’s Kottke interview led me to her Camp Creek blog. This is the owl. Check out the kids’ drawings here.

A wonderful discovery. It excited me so much that I posted about it on the group blog (http://www.clusterflock.org/2008/04/for-alek-and-india.html) through which I discovered your post, Lori -- and only afterward read the request concerning permission to reproduce. Hope that all will be well in retrospect.

e - i hope there are pictures of the cats doing acrobatic tricks. one of my cats rolled off the tv once on accident - does that count?

that is such a weird coincidence! i *hear* owls a lot, but i don't often get to see one -- especially so up close!

I miss hearing 'my' barred owls -- the ones I heard virtually every night down in southern Illinois!
