My planned post for today was derailed by the fact that I left my camera at my mom's house. Oops!

So here's my NaBloPoMo emergency post numero uno: I found this in last month's Better Homes & Gardens and thought it was a great way to use up the mini pumpkins and decorative gourds that hang around forever and never seem to age, especially since our fascination with birds continues unabated.

Of course, we like to decorate a tree for the birds during the holidays, and we do the traditional peanut-butter-on-a-pinecone and some other classic bird-related treats, but this one was new for us. We didn't have any dowels, so we used pencils! Worked great.

Now, off to fetch the camera!
